FAQ AND CLASS POLICIES

FAQ:

SAFETY FAQS RELATED TO COVID-19

What measures are employees taking to reduce the risk of virus exposure?
We will be doing daily temperature checks, having them all wear masks while in the gym. Employees will be sanitizing frequently and have updated training on the cleaning of equipment as well as social distance enforcement, following all current CDC guidelines.
What increased sanitation measures have been put into place?
There will be multiple hand sanitizers around the gym (always within 10ft from you no matter where you are in the gym) as well having all staff wash hands multiple times a day. In addition, staff will wear gloves when cleaning and use hand sanitizer before purchases are made.
Will I keep my current membership package when we do open?
Yes, any class packages or memberships that have an expiration date will be extended.
How will you enforce distance inside the gym?
We have divided the gym into 12ft training “ZONES” where you will have your own clean equipment and a Heavy Bag.

Also, all classes, PTS, and Open gym must be reserved in advance to accommodate limited gym space and smaller class capacities; there are no walk-ins at this time.

Will members be required to wear a facemask at all times in the gym?

As of 6/22/20: Wearing a face mask while working out is now optional!

Please continue to keep your face mask on when entering the gym, walking around, and leaving the gym, but once you are in your designated zone, your mask is completely optional!

Please bring your own mask or we have some BNB masks available for $4

Will you limit class sizes?
Yes, we are following the rules about having half capacity in the gym and that will affect the size of classes. Everyone in the class will have their own 12ft training zone, to keep the distance between each person to ensure a safer class.
Will you still have mitt work?

For now, we will not be having mitt work in classes. As time progresses we hope to add it back in. As for private training, YES mitt work will be allowed between trainers and clients. If you want to work on mitt work, contact us about a PT session (these can be 30-60mins long) .

How will classes be different?
All classes will now be 45 mins in length with your own 12ft training zone, and your very own clean equipment and heavy bag. No mitt work in classes (for now!). Even though they will be different they will still be awesome!
How do I wrap my hands?
We won’t be wrapping your hands anymore to help reduce direct contact between one another.

How to wrap your own hands:

You also have the option of slip-on wraps:

Will you contact me if someone with COVID-19 was in the gym?
YES, If we become aware of a reported case of COVID-19 in either gym, we will notify you as soon as we can. In addition, all staff that had contact with said person(s) will be tested before coming back to work as well.
How long will the gyms be operating on a limited schedule?
There is no way to predict what might happen, but our goal is to open up class capacity and schedules as soon as we are able to do so safely!
My membership is frozen, when will I start getting charged for my membership?
We will contact you before we reopen and ask if you are ready to start your membership up again. If so we will continue where you left off; so keep an eye on your inbox 🙂
Are you still offering first class for $19 and second class free?
Unfortunately, due to reduced classes and reduced class sizes we are currently not offering the intro special.   Check out our updated First Timer section to see what to expect for your first class
Are you still offering a discounted rate for students?

I am not sure I am ready to return to the gym yet. How long can I continue freezing my account?
No rush! We will be ready to welcome you back whenever you are comfortable and ready

Exercise mats and yoga mats will also no longer be provided. We suggest bringing your own towel and mat into the gym.

Is your gym intimidating?

No! Stop by and say hello! At Box ‘N Burn we take pride in being the most approachable gym in the area.  We want you to feel at home so you get the best out of your time here.

You’ll find COMMUNITY among positive, inspiring men and women. Our passionate instructors care about you and your goals – and will do whatever it takes to help you achieve them.

It’s engaging, challenging, and exciting – you’ll be so motivated you’ll want to keep coming back and become a better you.

Do I need to 'get in shape' before I start your classes?

No. Group classes are for all – no matter your age or fitness level.  A common misunderstanding is that you need to be ‘in shape’ before starting boxing fitness training. This is completely false. Our classes are designed to allow our attendees to train ‘at their own pace’ while at the same time, giving the advanced students the opportunity to challenge themselves.

What if I’ve never boxed in my life?

You don’t need to have ever boxed, we’ll teach you how to throw punches correctly and help you reach your fitness goals.  Box ‘N Burn classes are high intensity, non-contact, and FUN!

Will I get hit in the face or body?

No.  Classes are non-contact and non-combat – you’ll get lean and toned like a fighter (without ever having to fight!).

Will I have to spar with another person?

No. Our classes are non-contact and you work in a group setting or one-on-one with a certified trainer.

What are the BENEFITS of a boxing fitness class?

Boxing helps you burn fat and tone muscle in a short amount of time – you’ll gain a firm butt, a smaller waist, toned arms, and a lean sexy body.

Boxing fitness classes are a great cardiovascular workout for weight loss, stronger heart, and lungs, increased bone density, reduced stress, reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer, temporary relief from depression and anxiety, and better sleep.

Boxing releases aggression and manages your stress by getting your endorphins pumping.

You’ll be more confident about how you look and feel like a badass!

Do I need to register for my first class?

Yes. You can sign up and register for a class or download our Box ‘N Burn app on your iPhone or Android or on our class schedule. You will need to create a login and signup for the class you want.

Just be sure to show up 10-15 minutes early so we can wrap your hands and explain the class structure to you.

What can I expect at a group class?

To have fun!

Class is a well-balanced workout consisting of boxing fitness, cardio training, and functional fitness.  It is a full-body workout – legs, core, back, shoulders, and arms.

You’ll be doing conditioning drills like jumping jacks, sit-ups, and quick feet drills as well as fundamental boxing including ring and bag work.

Before class begins we’ll wrap your hands to protect them and get you in a pair of real boxing gloves.

How many people are in a group class?

Classes will range between 12-32 people. The larger the class, the more instructors to help out.

In order to keep the quality of the classes high and maintain a healthy trainer-to-member ratio, we have capped each location. Santa Monica is capped at 36 members and Brentwood is capped at 28 members.

Will there be other beginners in my class?

Absolutely. There are always beginners in class. Plus, the advanced students are always eager to help you get you on your way.

How long do the classes last?

Our classes last approximately 60 minutes.

How many classes per week should I attend?

We have classes 7 days a week so the amount of classes you take is based on your own personal schedule. Most of our members train about 1-3 times per week and see great results.

Class Info You Should Know:
