Bo has been absolutely enamored with combat sports his whole life. His martial arts journey began at the age of 6 when he started Judo in his home country of Ukraine. Although it was a somewhat terrifying experience for a young kid, it cultivated a lifelong obsession with the fighting arts.

Upon moving to Chicago at the age of 8, that romance continued as Bo became immersed with Wrestling, Karate and Tae Kwon Do. It was in high school however, where he found his calling in Muay Thai. The swiftness of boxing, combined with powerful kicks and deadly effectiveness of knees and elbows… it was like a glorious homecoming. He continued training and competing throughout his college years, where he also discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

During the summer of 2016, Bo suffered a massive injury to his knee. The physical pain seemed trivial in comparison to the psychological agony of not being able to continue his training. In retrospect, it would prove to be one of the most important moments for the furthering of his knowledge base. His body couldn’t take the same beating that it did when he was a kid and his approach had to become surgical. This forced him to look much deeper into human anatomy and proper biomechanics. He became absorbed in proper warm up, mobility drills, troubleshooting movement patterns, and prehab/injury avoidance. Furthermore, even his strength training and nutritional knowledge had to be audited and questioned mercilessly. Soon, this complete reexamination of the way he viewed a functioning human body paid great dividends. It produced a profound passion for the optimization of mind and body, striving to find the sweet spot between performance and longevity.

Bo’s attitude has been consistent his whole life, his energy and positivity are contagious. Bo is committed to continuously bettering his craft with unbridled curiosity; he would rather learn something new than “be right.” In his spare time you can find him reading scientific literature or listening to podcasts. If you enjoy being on the cutting edge of health, nutrition and performance – he would love to speak with you!
